ONE STEP HIGHER; A DATE WITH HER ROYAL MAJESTY TENGKU FAUZIAH TENGKU ABDUL RASHID, QUEEN OF MALAYSIA

As you may see from my previous blog, yesterday my family and I attended my sister's award ceremony for the Yayasan Tuanku Fauziah at the Istana Melawati, Putrajaya. The timing has been really a hectic and luckily I applied leave prior to the event. If I wouldn't have done so, I would not have made it to the award ceremony to personally see my sister receiving it. Of course, also the opportunity for me to step into the palace, meeting with all the important Dato's and Datins in Malaysia which is a real eye opener.

We arrived at the palace a day earlier to attend the rehearsal. The rehearsal ran pretty well. We had an opportunity to be up, close and personal with the Foundation’s board of trustees, Deputy Finance Minister Dato’ Dr Ng Yen Yen; YTL Corporation executive director, Dato’ Yeoh Soo Min; lawyer M. Rajasekaran and chartered accountant Raja Dato’ Azwane Raja Ariff where they are really a down to earth person, cracking jokes and laughing about, just like us despite holding such high positions. Besides, Dato' Dr Ng, is always emphasising on to thank parents of the award winners during the rehearsal for both my sister and Xiao Qing. Her emphasis on parents was really heartfelt, especially by my mom and dad. We went off at about 10pm however, they carried on having their rehearsal till about 1pm.

As the next day took off, my mom and sister went to set their hair while I went to One Utama to shop for the attire for both my dad and myself. We need to have a touch of purple on our suit as it was the theme for the night. He wore Dexter's lounge suit with a nice bow tie with a purple napkin on his left pocket whilst I wore my purple tie. I was surprise that both he and Dexter share the same body measurement. Despite the sling arm, it fitted him perfectly. My Dad was dashing, my mom was stunning in her baju melayu, my sister was dazzling, and of course, myself was handsomely charming... hehehehe...

After dressing up ourselves, we headed on to my father's place a little bit earlier to dress him up where my sister did her final touches to her nails and speech and then headed to the palace. We were pretty punctual to arrive at 6 in the evening. And the worst part is, it rains during both days, during the rehearsal and the actual day. Sigh. This time, I was smart. I drop them off at the porch of the istana whilst I walked myself in with an umbrella rather than having to see my mom running all the way from the parking lot to the istana doorstep like the day before. hehehe... imagine both she and my sister running on high heels and my father on his leather shoe and sling arm, getting themselves all soaking wet? And it would be far worst if they were to slip and fall. Shocking horror!

Whilst waiting for the event to start, we managed to have a conversation with Dato' Ir Robert Tan and Dato' Yeoh Soo Min both husband and wife speaking to both the parents and children. Another down to earth couple especially when Dato' Robert said "Don't call me Dato', Robert will do fine". And the diamond ring worn by Dato' Yeoh, sparkled all the way through to the back of my cornea, just like a laser beam. It was beautiful! Both my sister and Xiao Qing was having their interviews seperately as well. Later, they joined in for a photography session.

At about 9, the dinner started. We had the Royal band performing strings of quartet for us. The award took place right after the dinner with both my sister and Xiao Qing was tasked to convey a speech each. Whilst my sister was receiving her award from the Queen, I almost burst into tears thinking to mysef "The hardwork of my parents finally paid off and my sister really did them proud". The media was busy clicking the camera all the way through trying to capture images of photographs for their respective headlines. In fact, the event was apparently featured on RTM 1 as well. At the same time, I've also discovered that Xiao Qing's brother Tian Yu also covered the event of his version (http://www.xanga.com/siciliandragon). Check it out! It's cool. This is where when one could not resist the temptation of the event untill having to skip his revision for his SPM to create his debut. I enjoy his part where he captured a lady digging her nose. It totally cracked me up when he told me of his quest. He's observant!

I was pretty worried initially before the award presentation as my sister was complaining that her skirt was really tight. In the middle of dinner, she excused herself to the ladies and disappeared for almost 20 mins. Seeing her absence, my mother went to look out for her and she herself didn't turned up. I followed suit in hunting for both the ladies. And when I finally managed to find them, I found out that my sister was having tummy cramps due to the tight skirt which she no longer could wear which 'suffocated' of the stomach. She had to unbuckle and unzip her skirt in order for her to breath and walk properly. If not, she will faint. That is why, throughout the presentation award, during her most nervous moments, the nervousness was actually overulled by the fear of her skirts that could drop off right in the middle of the audience. Thank god it did not happened! If not, it would be a biggest headlines!

After the award event, the Her Royal Majesty, Queen sang a few numbers of ballads. The guess were invited to dance. My mom and dad danced, Xiao Qing's parents danced, she and her brother partner up and danced, my sister and I danced. Whilst bidding our goodbyes to the Royal family later on, Tuanku Faizuddin Putra cheekily throw in a question asking whether am I my sister's brother or boyfriend. This really cracked me up. Besides, I was pretty shocked that Dato' Ng actually observed me when she commented how good a dance I was and my dad, a talented singer. In fact, both Tuanku Faizuddin Putra and Raja Puan Muda Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen Akasha told my dad that they now know who to find if they need a singer, as my dad was invited to sing Il Mondo by Dato' Ng Yen Yen. Besides, my mom too was praised again and again on how elegant and beautiful she looked. The Datins taught her how to dance the line dancing when all the ladies were invited to dance including the Permaisuri and the Raja Puan Muda.

This came pretty unexpectedly and special. Indeed it was the most memorable night to being able to meet the King and Queen, to see my sister getting an award from the Queen (something which I will not be able to do, yet!), to see my parents dancing on each other's arms once again after so many years and most importantly, the 4 of us, having the chance of being together as a family! I think I treasure these moment most!

The Yayasan Tuanku Fauziah (Tuanku Fauziah Foundation) Inaugural Awards Night was witness to the first twinkle of two bright stars, as Wong Xiao Qing and Joanne Oh Chin Wan became the first recipients of the Yayasan Tuanku Fauziah Award.

Yayasan Tuanku Fauziah was launched in April this year specifically to help women achieve excellence in their respective fields. Wong hopes to help improve the performance of women in the corporate world, while the Oh intends to make a significant contribution in the field of electrical engineering.

Selected from hundreds of applicants by the Foundation's panel of judges, the duo received medals and awards from the Queen, Raja Permaisuri Agong Tengku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid at the Istana Melawati in Putrajaya.

In her speech at the palace main dining hall, Wong thanked the Foundation and the Queen for the award and said that it was a great honour and privilege for her to be one of the pioneer recipients.

The Psychology undergraduate from HELP University College added, “I will work very closely with the Yayasan as well as future award recipients in our endeavour to achieve the Foundation’s mission which is encapsulated in the acronym WISE – Women In Search of Excellence. I believe the Yayasan’s mission to promote women of excellence in Malaysia is something we should all strive for, especially in this new millennium for a peaceful, prosperous, united Malaysia.”

Oh, who recently completed a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) in Electronics majoring in Optical Engineering at Multimedia University (MMU), said that she was overjoyed when she received news of being one of the award's recipients.

“Let me extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to our gracious Queen for the fellowship. My deepest appreciation also goes to the trustees and judges of the Foundation. To be one of the first recipients of this award is not only an honour but also an opportunity for me to gear Malaysia into a country where all Malaysians will be proud of. I am sure that this award will further inspire me to achieve higher goals and success in my life,” said Oh in her speech.

A PLACE TO CALL HOME

In the recent months, I have been doing a lot of running around. I have been going around looking for contractors, tiles, toilets, cookers, furnitures, etc and even bankers and lawyers for that matter. Being an architect, Dexter have been running around with me most of the time getting the best design for the best bargain. On the other hand, Doris has been following me around running some errands as well, ie. locking up the parking lot... LOL.. what a lame thing to do.... We've been really busy...

However, towards the end of the year, when all the renovation works has been completed, I could finally call this place, a home sweet home. Maybe I'll have a house warming party... but we'll see. Most likely it will not happen.

A DISCOVERY AT PASSION

Last August we took our Thai colleague for an eye opener during his stay in Malaysia at the Passion. We had a great time indeed. As usual, we were up with our mischievious poses again.

Here goes....

I'M BACK AFTER MISSING IN ACTION FOR SOME TIME!

Hi guys... I'm back. I know, I know, I have not been updating my blog. A lot of my friends has already asked me and bugged me about it. I'm guilty..... I have been busy partying, dating and drinking.... until I neglected my fellow friends... hehehehe.... Besides, I do not really want to post those party pictures of mine, as it will show you guys the dark side of my life. Not too good....

However, I have been having webcam chats with Doris and she even used me as one of her blog. I swear to god I'll find a way to blog her again. This picture above is captured by her. Awww... I'm so cute... Zaliha asked me why am I looking so sexy. I was laughing my ass off.... Way to go girls... you both made my day.

This is one of the occassion that I had pictures taken with Silvia after she is attached with my buddy. Another drama series upon learning them both getting attached. Sigh.... hahahahah.... But after I sat back and reflect the annoucement again, I started to laugh. I was so stupid. No wonder I am classified as a 'HIMBO' and I will always be...

This picture was taken in the stairway of my office and I do not know what am I laughing about! And the pictures below shows our hang out session at Friendster in Damansara Perdana. It was a good night where we introduced a guy to Doris. Amir, if you are also reading my blog, please start your move and stop sitting back and relax. Be a man for once. Start your approach! You don't get good girls nowadays. What more a cute and hot one!

The pictures below was taken during lunch at Penang Village at Taman Tun Dr Ismail where I will let Doris blog about the food...

And this is the picture of me telling all of you, I promise I will write more often. Thanks to the stupid internet connection I get recently. Stupid server... Good Night!

THE 'GYM' EXPERIENCE

A friend of mine recently forwarded this article which is written by someone who is patronising the Fitness First gym in Menara Axis. I find it really hilarious and wishes to share it with you.

1. If you girls suddenly catch 1 guy checking you out… there are actually another 9 more u didnt catch.

2. If you girls are wondering why nobody is checking you out when you walk around strutting your stuff… look again! - this time, not at the guys, but their reflections in the mirror. See them looking at you now?

3. Watch this clip of the 2004 Malaysian Idol auditions. The guy with the yellow shorts singing Kylie’s ‘Spinning Around’ goes to Fitness First Menara Axis. In fact, he wears those same pair of shorts for every workout! And yes, he’s GAY. If you observe him in the gym, you can actually catch him dancing and entertaining himself by the corner. Scary…

4. More than 50% of the guys in the gym are gay… yes.. even those ugly ones. This is no big secret actually… but thought I’ll include it here anyway.

5. Gays hang out in packs. If you know 1, chances are, the 3 guys working out with him or the ones that keep saying hi/bye to him are gay too. And beware.. they hunt in packs too.

6. Some Fitness first male instructors are perverts. Just watch them during one of their personal training sessions with female members. You dont see them being that ‘up close and personal’ if it was their guy client. You have not idea how bad it is.. once I even saw a trainer almost lying on TOP of the woman… supposedly using his bodyweight to give resistance to her legs or something. YEAH RIGHT. I really wish you women would say something.. cos its so clear that theyre being indecent. I’ve been working out for many years and in so many different gyms, and let me tell you that there are OTHER ways to do it.

7. The white guy that tries to mix his expensive protein supplement WITH THE TINY PLASTIC COFFEE SPOON thingy at the juice bar is a show off and a dumbass. Hasnt he heard of a shaker before?

8. Zana the front desk girl in FF Menara Axis is ‘oh so HOT’.

9. Fitness First Subang Jaya is the ultimate pick-up branch with too much socialising going on there. Fitness First John Hancock is the ultimate gay-infested outlet. Careful.. they hang out in packs, and even whistle and wink at other guys. *shiver*
10. Their sales consultants will harass you 10x worse than your bank asking for your credit card payment. Also, some of them will talk so much about being fit and starting a healthy lifestyle etc without realising that their ass cant fit on the wooden chairs they talk to you on.

NOW NOW GIRLS, YOU WANT DAVE OR DAVEN?

Heya all... Besides the ghost story, I did enjoy myself that night. And guess who did I meet? My very own cousin whom I have not met for the past few months since Chinese New Year. I was doing my usual routine being a 'HIMBO' in the club mingling around with my friends whilst he suddenly appeared into my view. For a second, I had to figure out who is this jerk that suddenly came to my eagle's eye. I nearly died of shocked but after realising there were not any hot sexy red cresent members around to actually perform mouth to mouth, I decided not to faint. LOL!

My first word to him was "Fukk! What the hell are you doin here?" I quickly grab him to give him a hug! Damn I missed him. And mind you, for all my hugs and misses for him, this time during his visit to KL, he did not even bother to give me a tinkle to ask me out clubbing. I had to bump into him instead to know that he's in town. Damn! I'll remember him for that. But nevertheless, I was pretty elated seeing him at the club.

NOTE: To all the single ladies around, there's another choice for you to make. Who do you prefer, Dave or Daven? We share almost the same name though. So better make the right choice.

GHOST IN MY CONDO

Last weekend on Friday, was really a freaky dramatic night. I was out partying all night long with my cousin on Friday and only went home at about 3 am, wee hours in the morning. After aligning my car into it's favourite spot nicely, I noticed that there were security guards running into my building blog. I gazed in darkness and wondered what could actually happen. Seeing that, I quickly alighted my car and started heading towards the lift where the guard headed which is also the access to my unit. There I noticed that there were these girls staring ghastly at it and as I approached, I saw blood splattered everywhere. I was asking around what happened as it not only affected 1 but 2 lifts. I was then informed that there were a student bashing which happened not long ago. To avoid some unforeseen incident, I quickly headed into the other lift (of course the one without blood stain) and headed up reaching for home as I was sceptical about the guy may bring his gangs to have another fight.

In the lift, I also heard chilling screams of laughter and pain, as if someone were being possessed. Again I questioned what was that and was then informed by the apartment committee member who was also in the lift that I was in, that there was a lady who is possessed by ghost and currently being exorcised. I freaked out. As soon as the lift arrived at my floor, I quickly headed to my unit and went to the balcony to view the incident. It was pretty freaky and I was having goose bumps as at the same time, the dogs were howling. The exorcism went till about 5 in the morning and soon died off. I guess GHOST's existance in this world is true after all.

HANGING OUT AT BLONDE

Right after Suraya's wedding, I met up with Claire for a drink at Blonde. She's still as pretty as how I have seen her 4 years ago. But this time, she's informing us that she'll be leaving for UK this coming September, maybe for good. Claire, do always remember how we spent our time together. Through the ups and downs, laughters and dramas. I guess we could pass for a drama queen. LOL...

Yesterday, Ugin, Doris, PayNee, Min Feei and myself went to Blonde again to chill out as Loft was closed. It has been a while since we actually sit down and talk. I missed those moments. Although Pay Nee and I always fight for the sake of fighting all these while, the fight yesterday was really a laughter.

Initially we planned to go to the Loft to finish our bottle of whisky which is due this coming Wednesday. To our disappointment, we had to go else where. Besides, we made ugin waited for us there for so long, just because Pay Nee and I were having a wrestling session in the car while driving.

So we chose Blonde, the pretty empty outlet, but guess what? We're there, the Blonde will never be bored. Not with us around. We even had a chance to forecast our score on the Italy vs Australia match yesterday as if we were to guess it right, we will win ourselves a jersey each from Blonde. But to our disappointment, we didn't guess it right. Sigh... we overshot by 1 goal.

Beers after beers we drank. We started talking crap and lured Pay Nee to molest my tits. It was very nice, come to think of it. (Can you do it more often?) LOL...

Besides, the long time sick camera of Doris suddenly recovered where she jumped for joy as she has been blaming me as the person who caused the camera to fall sick as it could not take such illicit poses of mine. But yesterday the pictures taken was worst. I guess the camera of hers must be thinking to itself that maybe it should recover fast, if not, it would be at the dumpster one day. Yesterday was indeed her best night afterall as it saved her from coughing out money from her already low budget of a miserable sum of RM 20 to survive the month and what more, to grab a new camera? She would be living in poverty.

Min Feei the 'Fei Kei Wong' finally joined us too and I was pretty honoured to have his presence there. The hang out did kill the blue monday that most of us usually get....
